QME will again be hosted in Mackay in July 2026.

Proudly partnering with the Bowen Basin coal industry

Queensland’s biggest regional mining event is back with Prime Creative Media again hosting the Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) in Mackay in July 2026.

QME is a landmark event on the resources industry calendar, bringing together industry leaders, resource companies and suppliers to showcase innovations, strengthen partnerships and highlight the future of mining in Queensland.

As one of Australia’s leading industry supporters, Prime Creative Media recognises the vital role that Queensland’s coal sector plays – not only for regional communities in the Bowen Basin, but for the broader national economy.

With metallurgical coal from Queensland used by steel mills worldwide, and thermal coal contributing to global energy supply, the output from the Bowen Basin helps Australia maintain a robust export profile and supports global industrial demand.

A show of strength for regional mining

In 2026, QME returns with fresh energy, offering a unique platform for coal miners, service providers, equipment vendors and industry stakeholders to gather and exchange ideas and present innovations.

QME has received significant industry backing, with the Queensland Resources Council returning as an official association partner.

As a leading voice for the state’s resources sector and a peak industry association, the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) plays a critical role in advocating for a sustainable regulatory environment and promoting excellence in health, safety, environmental performance, diversity, and industry leadership.

QRC Chief Executive Officer, Janette Hewson, said in a statement that the event highlights the resources sector as a major direct contributor to the Mackay regional economy and its significant flow-on benefits to local supply chains supporting new and existing businesses.

“QME is now a major event on the Queensland resources calendar and, as the industry’s peak body, QRC is proud to be involved as the official association partner,” Hewson said.

“The exhibition also takes the resources sector to the wider public and shares the innovation and world best practices that are homegrown in Queensland resources sector.

“QRC encourages industry members to get behind this event which is being held in the heart of one of Queensland’s powerhouse resources regions.”

QME also welcomes the return of the Bowen Basin Mining Club (BBMC) as a key supporter in 2026. The BBMC hosts the state’s premier biennial mining industry awards – the Queensland Mining Awards – celebrating the spirit of innovation, excellence and collaboration across the industry.

BBMC Director Jodie Currie said in a statement that the glittering awards gala will make its return alongside QME in 2026 and will once again recognise the outstanding innovations and productivity improvements implemented by mining companies, contractors and suppliers alike.

“QME is always such a significant celebration of the mining industry, so hosting our awards in the midst of that celebration helps to elevate QME even further,” Currie said.

Currie said the BBMC will utilise its booth at QME to showcase new innovations and new partnerships within the Queensland mining sector throughout the event.

“We always say that the Queensland METS sector leads the way globally for innovation and technology,” Currie said. “For us to be able to showcase that innovation in Mackay, one of the biggest METS incubators in Queensland, is important for the region, and it’s also important for the industry.”

QME 2026 will also see the return of the QME Mining Pavilion, where key mining companies and contractors will be on site to showcase their initiatives and foster invaluable connections within the Queensland mining community.
