Tuesday September 4th, the Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association (ARTSA) inducted seven new members into it’s highly credentialed Life Membership. This brings to 22 the number of life members ARTSA has recognised as key shapers and influencers for the Australian road transport industry.
Prime Creative Media publisher and Managing Director John Murphy was inducted to membership in recognition for his long and distinguished service to the road transport industry and his record of service to the Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association.
“In the last two decades dedicated to the road transport industry John has supported ARTSA with strategic advice and support with the development of our events programs, unprecedented coverage in his media platforms and the ARTSA technical column has become a staple in the industry leading Prime Mover magazine and CRT News website for many years,” said Dr. Peter Hart.
When inducting John, Dr. Hart said, “John has demonstrated his dedication to ‘growing individuals, organisations and industries’ with his industry leading media platforms, his total commitment for backing ARTSA and it’s executive in the wider industry. He is the unofficial ambassador for driving innovation and technological advancement as a way forward for Road Transport sector and his unique approach of refusing to use negative news and only focusing on the positives in our industry is refreshing and ARTSA have benefitted from his loyal support over the last 2 decades. ARSTA values your support and wishes to make you a life member in honour of your work.”
John shared the evening with fellow inductees Professor Gary Liddle AO, former head of VicRoads and current Enterprise Professor at Melbourne University, Greg Brown, Chief Engineer at MaxiTRANS and Simon Humphries, Chief Engineer at Isuzu.
According to Martin Toomey, Deputy Chairman of ARTSA and Chairman of the Life Members Committee, all four individuals have shown dedication to the heavy vehicle industry and have also contributed to ARTSA’s program in a range of ways. “It is important that we not only celebrate their achievements but we provide them with a means to continue that contribution on industry’s behalf,” he said
ARTSA also appointed three other Life Members who were unable to attend on the evening. They were: Dr Peter Sweatman, former Chairman of ARTSA; Greg Byrnes former Chief engineer for Air Brake Corporation; and Phil Webb, Senior Engineer at PACCAR.
“Australia has a reputation as a world leader in heavy vehicle technology and we need to celebrate the individuals who have dedicated their careers to delivering this outcome,” said ARTSA Chairman, Dr Peter Hart. “ARTSA will be developing a Life Members program in 2019 to ensure the ongoing contribution from these outstanding individuals.”
