Prime Creative Media is officially entering the broadcasting space, with the acquisition of the Australian Big Rig Roadshow digital radio station as of August 2022.

The station is the brainchild of experienced broadcaster Simon Smith, who will be joining the Prime Creative Media team as full-time Producer. Simon was inspired almost three decades ago to start a program that would keep truck drivers entertained and informed while driving. As it’s available 24/7, the radio station keeps roads safer by helping drivers stay alert with the news and information they need.

“The trucking industry and the people who move the nation 24/7 is one of the biggest niche markets in Australian Radio, a huge mobile community who need their own Radio Station,” says Mr. Smith. “What we do is help truck drivers get home safely. We’ve created a trusted community where truck drivers can hear from familiar voices about the issues that matter to them.”

When the program was first launched over free to air radio there was a 60 per cent reduction in fatigue-related accidents involving heavy vehicles, where the station was being broadcast in regional radio along The Hume Highway.

Prime Creative Media CEO John Murphy says a station that keeps drivers safer, and promotes community, is an ideal fit to join the Prime Creative Media group. Mr. Murphy has worked to support the commercial transport industry since he acquired his first magazine, Trailer Magazine, in 2001. The transport industry is in his blood, as his father Tim Murphy was a truck driver and mechanic for many years when John was growing up in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs.

Today, Prime Creative Media employs more than 140 media professionals across a range of industries. This includes more than 30 team members working in the commercial transport space, in media including leading products such as Big Rigs, OwnerDriver, PowerTorque, Prime Mover, Trailer, Global Trailer, ATN, Deals on Wheels, CRT News and Fully Loaded. Together, these news and information sources serve the full spectrum of the commercial transport industry.

“The Australian Big Rigs Roadshow’s purpose of supporting drivers is an ideal match with our purpose of Growing Individuals Organisations and Industries,” says Mr. Murphy. “We are so excited to be able to invest in this product and help take the station to the next level.”

Prime Creative Media will be relaunching the product in the coming months, and looks forward to opening up greater opportunities for industry participation and increasing audience reach.
