History
Prime Creative Media is an independently owned media and marketing organisation. Since being established in 2002, it has grown into a respected and highly regarded business that is known for its professionalism, marketing expertise and its value added approach to customer service.
The company initially operated out of Bayswater with the one title – Trailer Body Builder magazine. A high percentage of advertising sales, writing and photography was completed in-house, but remaining editorial and design was outsourced.
In a period of just over 18 months, however, the magazine was on a stable footing and all work was brought in-house. As the business started to grow, Prime Creative moved into a small Port Melbourne apartment.
By this stage, Prime Creative Media realised that commercial road transport was a very professional industry, yet there wasn’t a great deal of marketing knowledge in the field. Prime Creative Media decided to expand its expertise into advertising. The business began offering clients a complete range of marketing services including the design of advertising concepts, writing PR material, developing newsletters and providing a broad range of complimentary marketing material.
Prime Creative Media was transforming into a marketing organisation, a one-stop shop for all of its customers’ advertising needs. Building on this one customer at a time eventuated in its advertising becoming a major part of the business and paved the way for new magazine titles to be introduced into the market – a truck magazine called Prime Mover Magazine and an after market retail magazine called Marketplace.
As a result of Prime Creative Media’s rapid expansion, a larger premise was needed to cater to rising staff numbers. South Melbourne was seen as a very creative and central location that would allow Prime Creative Media to attract the best staff in Melbourne. It was chosen as the ideal location to cater to the company’s exponential growth. A professional office environment was created for its valued staff members and clients.
With the success of its three transport magazine titles, Prime Creative Media saw the need to develop a professional Melbourne based truck show. Transport Marketing Australia was created to handle the sales side with a partner to handle the organisational side. The first International Trailer, Truck and Equipment Show took place in 2008.
During this time, an opportunity to move into new high growth markets was realised and Prime Creative Media had the chance to acquire other magazine titles. These included BeanScene Magazine and Outer Edge. The small but highly skilled staff expanded to include over 20 team members encompassing a vast range of talents with skills ranging from writing and design to marketing professionals and sales people.
In late 2009, only a year after acquiring Outer Edge, Prime Creative Media saw the potential on offer in the adventure sector and acquired Wild Publications, the owners of Wild and Rock magazines, with a combined heritage of 60 years. As Australia’s first magazine dedicated to wilderness adventure, Wild has become a trusted source for those with a passion for the outdoor environment in Australia; and Rock remains the only climbing magazine published in Australia. The acquisition of these titles welcomed the services of talented editorial staff and subscription staff and also led to the introduction of Prime Creative Media’s first subscription service. With this, the Prime Creative Adventure Group was formed.
By 2010, Prime Creative Media had acquired and relaunched the magazine titles Italianicious and Whichschool. During this same year, the company also entered a new arena. The rollout of digital platforms across all publications has helped to cement the business as a leader in each of the categories it is involved with. This included the introduction of the CRT News e-newsletter which highlights the latest and most important news stories occurring in the commercial road transport industry.
Today, Prime Creative Media remains a progressive and innovative business catering to the needs of both its dedicated staff and its highly valued clients. The company places a great deal of emphasis on creating a family culture that encourages each of its staff members to accomplish their goals and ambitions in a fun and proactive environment.
It is Prime Creative Media’s aim to continue its rapid growth well into the future. In 2011, the business launched the first of its international initiatives. The magazine titles Global Coffee Review and Global Trailer were brought into the worldwide marketplace to provide a voice to these important global industries.
